1. What are the fees and what do they pay for?
Select team fees pay for referees, field rentals for practices and games, coaching costs, equipment, printing and supplies, technical trainers, insurance coverage, tournament fees, and GVSA registration fees. Due to yearly fluctuations on third party costs, number of tournaments, number of trainers, etc., fees are evaluated every year and are posted prior to June Try-Outs. Falcons Kentwood Soccer Club has always prided itself on keeping costs low, while still providing a rewarding experience for players and their families. We are a not for profit club committed to bringing talented coaches and trainers together with talented kids, at prices families can afford.
*cost of uniform is not included in season fee |

2. Enrollment of a player on a team involves a commitment of resources by both the player and the club. There is no refund of fees in the case of voluntary withdrawal from a team.
We analyze our expenses annually and have made a concerted effort to keep our fees as low as possible while maintaining a quality program. A limited number of scholarships are available to our members based on need.

3. What can you tell me about the team uniforms?
The uniform consists of a jersey, shorts, alternate jersey and two pair of red socks. Uniforms are purchased by the player and will cost approximately $75 or less. *uniform cost is tentative and may change prior to the season

|
4. What additional costs should I expect?
Additional expenses may include team training, indoor soccer, tournament travel expenses, additional tournaments, etc. This should be discussed with the coach before making a commitment to the team.

5. KSC Coaches:
All of our coaches are required to obtain an "E" level coaching license within the first six months of coaching. Many of our coaches have obtained a D license. KSC also offers numerous coaching clinics throughout the year which our coaches are expected to attend.

|
6. How far will we have to travel for games?
Most of Select team games are played within the greater Grand Rapids area, stretching from Lowell to the Lakeshore (some teams may occasionally travel as far as Kalamazoo, Traverse City or Lansing). Half of the season's games are played right here at home. KSC's home field is the Brewer Park complex on 84th Street between Division and Eastern.

|
7. Can my son or daughter "play up"?
The Club policy is that most players play in their designated age group or they may play with their peer group/class in school. In the case in which there is no team in the individual's age group, it may be necessary to place players on an older team. The Board will consider solicitation of players to play with an older age group on a case-by-case basis; the Board's decision is final.

|
8. What can you tell me about tournaments?
The typical tournament involves out-of-town travel for a weekend. Teams are usually guaranteed three games throughout the weekend, with playoff or final games on Sunday afternoon. KSC encourages our teams to participate in tournaments. We endorse the MILD Cup in Hastings as our Fall tournament played over Labor Day Weekend. Our recommendation for the Spring Tournament is the Portage Classic in early June.

9. KSC Board:
KSC is a nonprofit club run by volunteers. The work is done on the team level by team managers, coaches, and assistant coaches. The Board consists of a group of 12 volunteers who meet once per month, make and enforce policies and run the club. If you are interested in getting involved with the board, contact Rhonda Cashion at 455-5198.

|
10. Where and how long are the practices?
Most teams practice twice a week, with practices lasting between 1 ½ and 2 hours each. The majority of our teams practice at Brewer Park.
|
|
11. What are the player expectations?
Players are expected to be at every practice and game. If a player can't make a practice they are expected to contact the coach in advance. Players are expected to come to games and practices properly equipped (soccer shoes, shin guards, ball and water). Players are expected to maintain a high level of discipline in their actions on and off the field; they are expected to be involved in training outside of season (camps, clinics, tournaments, futsal training). At least two indoor sessions are recommended during the off season. Players are expected to make KSC games and practice their priority over other sport activities, club soccer should be their primary sport during both the Fall and Spring seasons.
